Dear neighbors,
Thank you so much once again for Ward 5's crucial support of our school budget.  With the funding you have enabled us to provide, I look forward to another year of excellent, equitable, and efficient education for Burlington's growing population of school children.

Congratulations to our new School Commissioner Paul Hochanadel.  I look forward to working with Paul to represent Ward 5 in the coming year.  As always, this will be an extremely challenging time, with several contract negotiations, needy facilities, and threatened funding. Please be assured that I always will make decisions with the best interests of our kids in mind.

I would like to take a moment to sincerely thank Fred Lane for ten years of service to Burlington as a superb Board member, Finance Chair, and recently School Board Chair.  On his watch we righted inequities, passed budgets, renovated failing buildings, and brought accessibility to Edmunds Middle School.  The gifts of his time, expertise, and commitment to democracy and public education have been an inspiration.
