Dear Neighbors,
The School Board has reorganized for the coming year and our new Chair is Commissioner Thom Fleury (tfleury@bsdvt.org) from Ward 7. Ward 5 Commissioner Fred Lane has been reappointed as Chair of the Finance Committee (flane@bsdvt.org), and I have been appointed as Chair of the Curriculum Committee. Our big event coming up is discussion of the Board’s proposals for elementary school reorganization towards the goals of “excellence and equity.” These proposals will be rolled out at our next full Board meeting at the Burlington High School Cafeteria on May 8th at 7 p.m. Also announced at that time will be a series of opportunities for the public to ask questions and provide comments. Rest assured that no decisions are imminent, and no changes are planned for the coming academic year. The Board is on the agenda for the Ward 5 N.P.A. on May 22 at the Public Works building on Pine Street, so you might want to mark your calendars for that.
